Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1½ tsp baking powder
- ½ tsp baking soda

- ½ cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar

- ½ cup sour cream or Greek yogurt
- 2 cups peeled, diced apples
- ½ cup brown sugar
- ½ cup flour
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- ¼ cup cold butter, cubed
- 1 apple, peeled and finely diced
- 2 tbsp butter
- 2 tbsp brown sugar
- ½ tsp cinnamon
- ¼ cup water
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a baking pan.
- In a bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Cream butter and sugar until light; add eggs one at a time, then vanilla and sour cream/yogurt.
- Gradually combine dry ingredients with the wet mixture; gently fold in diced apples.
- Pour into the prepared pan and prepare the crumb topping by combining brown sugar, flour, cinnamon, and cubed butter until crumbly; sprinkle over batter.
- Bake for 40–45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- For the drizzle, cook diced apple with butter, brown sugar, cinnamon, and water until thickened; pour over cooled cake before serving.
