- ⅔ cup granulated sugar
- ¾ teaspoon fine sea salt
- ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
- For the topping: ½ cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons light brown sugar (packed)
- 1 ½ tablespoons ground cinnamon
Instructions
- Activate yeast by mixing warm milk with yeast; let sit for about 5 minutes until foamy.
- In a bowl, whisk together egg, melted butter, and vanilla.
- In a stand mixer bowl, combine flour, sugar, salt, and cinnamon. Mix briefly.
- Combine activated yeast with wet ingredients and pour into dry mixture; stir until combined.
- Knead dough on medium-low speed for about 5 minutes until smooth.
- Allow dough to rise in a greased bowl for about an hour until doubled.
- After rising, punch down the dough and let it rest again for another hour.
- Shape dough into twists and let them rest for an additional 30 minutes before frying at 325°F until golden brown.
- Coat in cinnamon-sugar immediately after frying.
