  • 6 cups peeled, sliced apples (Granny Smith or Honeycrisp)
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp salt
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 2 tbsp flour
  • ½ cup flour for the topping
  • ½ cup brown sugar for the topping
  • ¼ cup cold butter, cubed for the topping

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, toss together the sliced apples, granulated sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, lemon juice, and flour until combined.
  3. Pour the apple mixture into the prepared pie crust evenly.
  4. In another bowl, mix together the flour and brown sugar for the topping. Cut in the cubed butter until crumbly. Sprinkle over the apple filling.
  5. Bake for 45–50 minutes or until the apples are tender and topping is golden brown.
  6. Allow to cool slightly before serving.
