Ingredients
- 5 cups fresh strawberries, hulled and quartered
- 4 tsp all purpose flour
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- squeeze of lemon juice
- 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
- 1/3 cup granulated sugar
- 2 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1/4 tsp salt
- 1 Tbsp lemon zest
- 6 Tbsp butter, melted
- 1/2 cup heavy whipping cream
- 1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
- raw sugar, for sprinkling (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F. Grease a deep dish pie plate or a baking dish.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the strawberries, flour, lemon juice, and sugar. Mix until well combined, then spread the strawberry mixture evenly in the bottom of your prepared baking dish.
- In another bowl, mix together the flour, sugar, baking powder, salt, and lemon zest. Create a well in the center and pour in the melted butter, heavy cream, and lemon juice. Stir until all ingredients are combined into a dough.
- Spoon dollops of biscuit dough over the top of the strawberries. If desired, sprinkle with raw sugar.
- Place in the preheated oven and bake for 40-45 minutes, or until biscuits are golden brown on top and filling is bubbling.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving. Top with ice cream or whipped cream if desired.
