- 1/2 cup warm milk

- 1 cup cold unsalted butter (for the butter block)
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips or batons
- 1 egg (for egg wash)
- 1 tbsp milk (for egg wash)
Instructions
- Activate the yeast by mixing warm water, milk, sugar, and yeast in a bowl; let sit until foamy.
- Combine flour and salt in a large bowl; add melted butter and yeast mixture. Knead until smooth.
- Shape dough into a disk, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least an hour.
- Create a butter block by beating cold butter between parchment paper until flat.
- Roll out chilled dough into a square and place the butter block diagonally inside, sealing it like an envelope.
- Roll dough into a rectangle and fold into thirds; chill for 30 minutes. Repeat this rolling and folding process two more times.
- Roll out final dough to about 1/4 inch thick; cut into rectangles.
- Place chocolate on one edge of each rectangle; roll tightly and tuck seams underneath.
- Let croissants rise for about 1.5 to 2 hours until puffy.
- Brush croissants with egg wash before baking at 400°F (200°C) for about 15–18 minutes until golden brown.
