  • 1 teaspoon maple syrup (for icing)
  • 23 teaspoons milk (for icing)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the yeast mixture by combining warm water, yeast, and sugar in a bowl; let it froth for 5-10 minutes.
  2. In a large bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, sugar, spices, salt, vanilla extract, and the frothy yeast mixture.
  3. Gradually add flour while stirring until combined; fold in raisins.
  4. Knead on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until smooth.
  5. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl covered with a cloth for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  6. Shape into 12 equal pieces and place close together on a lined baking sheet; let rise again for 30 minutes.
  7. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake for approximately 22 minutes or until golden brown.
  8. Prepare icing by mixing powdered sugar, maple syrup, milk, flour, and enough water for desired consistency; drizzle over cooled buns.
