  • 1 box instant chocolate pudding mix (3.9 oz)
  • 5 large eggs
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3/4 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup sour cream or buttermilk
  • 3/4 cup brewed coffee, cooled
  • 2 cups Nestlé Toll House chocolate chips
  • For the Ganache: 2 tbsp salted butter
  • 2 tbsp cocoa powder
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 3 tbsp milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch cake pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the Devil’s Food cake mix and instant pudding mix.
  3. In another bowl, combine eggs, vanilla extract, vegetable oil, sour cream (or buttermilk), and cooled coffee until smooth.
  4. Gradually pour wet ingredients into dry ingredients, mixing gently until just combined.
  5. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  6. Pour batter into the prepared pan and bake for about 45 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Cool the cake for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
  8. For the ganache, melt butter in a saucepan over low heat; whisk in cocoa powder, powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk until smooth.
  9. Pour ganache over the cooled cake and spread evenly.
