  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cups beef broth
  • 1 small yellow onion, diced
  • 3 garlic cloves, minced
  • 3 tbsp cornstarch (for thickening)
  • 1 tsp brown sugar
  • ½ tsp each: salt, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika
  • ¼ tsp black pepper
  • 2 tbsp butter
  • 1 beef bouillon cube
  • ¼ tsp each: dried thyme, rosemary
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp garlic powder

Instructions

  1. Season the sirloin tips with salt, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, paprika, brown sugar, and black pepper. Coat evenly with flour.
  2. Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Brown the beef in batches for about 5 minutes each until crusty; set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, melt butter and sauté onions and garlic until translucent.
  4. Add beef broth and bouillon cube; stir in thyme and rosemary. Bring to a simmer.
  5. Return beef to skillet; cover and simmer for 20-25 minutes until tender.
  6. Mix cornstarch with cold water for a slurry; stir into gravy to thicken.
  7. Allow to rest for 5 minutes before serving.
