  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon (optional)
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 3 cups sliced peeled peaches (fresh or frozen)
  • 1 1/2 cups water
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and grease an 8-inch baking dish.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon (if using). Stir in milk until well combined and fold in sliced peaches.
  3. Pour the batter into the greased baking dish evenly.
  4. In a saucepan, mix water, both sugars, butter, and nutmeg. Bring to a boil over medium heat while stirring until dissolved.
  5. Carefully pour the syrup over the peach batter in the baking dish.
  6. Bake for 40-50 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
