  • 2 29 oz canned peaches in heavy syrup (Only use the peach juice from one can, not both.)
  • 5 tbsp melted unsalted butter
  • 2 1/2 tsp lemon juice
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar (Add more or less depending on your taste)
  • 2 cups flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 pinch nutmeg (small pinch)
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1 cup melted unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F.
  2. Pour one can of peaches (with juice) into a baking dish; drain the second can and add only the peaches.
  3. Mix in melted butter, salt, lemon juice, sugar, and vanilla extract with the peaches.
  4. In a separate bowl, combine flour, baking powder, sugar, nutmeg, cinnamon, and salt; pour over peach mixture evenly.
  5. Smooth out the topping and drizzle melted butter over it.
  6. Bake for 15 minutes at 400°F; then reduce temperature to 375°F and bake for another hour until golden brown.
