  • 2 lbs ground lean turkey
  • 2 cups sliced carrots
  • 2 cups diced sweet potatoes
  • 2 cups diced apples
  • 3 cups crushed tomatoes
  • 12 cans kidney beans
  • 1 Tbs olive oil
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 2 tsp salt (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
  • 1 1/2 tsp rubbed sage (divided)
  • 1/2 tsp cinnamon
  • a sprinkle nutmeg
  • 3 Tbs tomato paste
  • 2 tsp chili powder
  • 2 cups strained tomatoes (or marinara sauce)

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a large pot over medium heat.
  2. Add sliced carrots, sweet potatoes, and apples along with onion powder, garlic powder, salt, pepper, sage, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Cook for about 5 minutes.
  3. Stir in the ground turkey and cook until browned (5–7 minutes).
  4. Mix in tomato paste and chili powder; combine well.
  5. Pour in crushed tomatoes and stir everything together.
  6. Lower the heat and simmer for 20–30 minutes; add kidney beans towards the end.
