- 1 1/2 cups (190g) all-purpose plain flour
- 1/2 cup (115g) vegan butter or margarine (chilled)
- 3 tablespoons (35g) granulated sugar (brown sugar or coconut sugar)
- 2–3 tablespoons cold water (as needed)
- 4–5 apples (of choice, cored)
- 3 tablespoons (40g) granulated sugar (brown sugar or coconut sugar)
- 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
- 1 tablespoon (8g) all-purpose plain flour (or gluten-free flour)
- Dash of lemon juice (optional)
- 2 tablespoons (30g) vegan butter or coconut oil (melted)
- 3 tablespoons (60g) apricot jam (any light-colored jam)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9-inch loose-bottom tart pan.
- In a mixing bowl, combine 1 ½ cups of flour and 3 tablespoons of sugar. Add ½ cup of chilled vegan butter and mix until crumbly. Gradually incorporate cold water until forming a dough. Chill for 30 minutes.
- While the dough chills, core and slice 4-5 apples thinly. Toss them with 3 tablespoons of sugar, 2 teaspoons of cinnamon, and 1 tablespoon of flour.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and fit it into the prepared tart pan. Layer the apple mixture evenly over the crust and brush with melted vegan butter.
- Bake for about 70 minutes until golden brown and tender. Brush warm tart with apricot jam before serving.
